Jean Seybert Obituary

On February 16, 2026, Jean Agnes Miller Seybert passed away peacefully in Sonoma, California at the age of 97.

Born in Washington, DC on April 24, 1928, Jean graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington. She attended Randolph-Macon Women’s College, and later transferred to and graduated from George Washington University with a degree in Spanish Literature. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority at Randolph-Macon and GWU.

She married the late Harry “Woody” Seybert in 1951. They had been married for 66 years at the time of his passing in 2017.

Jean worked for the US Geological Survey before becoming a mother and raising two children. When her children were teenagers, she returned to work as a tutor and substitute teacher in the Montgomery County, Maryland public school system.

An active member of the community, Jean was a long-time member of the Bradley Hills Presbyterian Church in Bethesda, where she served on the Chancel Guild. She was also a member and past president of the Chevy Chase Women’s Club.

Jean is survived by her two children: her son, David Seybert and his wife Miriam Rodgers, and her daughter, Mary Kwong and her husband Peter Kwong. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Lucas Seybert and Rigel Seybert.

Jean will be buried alongside her beloved husband Woody at Parklawn Cemetery in Rockville, MD.
